The Boss

The Boss is directed by Ben Falcone and stars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell and tells the story of a multi million dollar, business titan Michelle Darnell (McCarthy) who is sent to prison due to her doing  insider trading, six months later she returns to make her place back in the world.

As I mentioned this is directed by Ben Falcone, who directed Tammy which is easily the worst McCarthy film ever. So I was dubious about this one, but still a part of me was hopeful. This yet again was a bad attempt at a film by Falcone.

The plot was just stupid, in all honesty there wasn't a plot and nearer the end you felt the film should have stopped but it just carried on and in its last moments, ruined the entire film for me. There was some very overacted, awkward performances like Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage who played some weird lover/business competitor and it was just bad. The film never really picked up, it was very slow pace and there was nothing much to develop. The senseless, unfunny script made the film seem like a total waste of time and did yet again has proved Falcone struggles to make a good film. I was bored from start to finish it was very weak and had such a lack of comedy.

The film's only saving grace of course is McCarthy. Considering she didn't have anything to work with I am yet again pleased to see she can still perform very well despite how bad the film was. The film made me laugh about four or five times and even then it was because of McCarthy.

Although Melissa McCarthy, (as usual) was hilarious, I laughed merely a few times and I didn't enjoy myself at all as there was nothing special at all about the film, don't see it if you are looking for a McCarthy film like Spy or Bridesmaids.

I am going to give The Boss:

5.2/10
